The Peninsula
On 11th December 1928, a legend of Asian hospitality was born – The Peninsula Hong Kong opened her doors for the first time, and has been welcoming guests and patrons from all over the world ever since, transforming Kowloon from a sleepy backwater to the focal point of a vibrant social life.
Over the years, The Peninsula has been witness to and participant in the history of Hong Kong, celebrating its dramatic progress. The legendary “Grande Dame of the Far East” continues to set hotel standards worldwide, offering a blend of the best of Eastern and Western hospitality in an atmosphere of unmatched classical grandeur and timeless elegance.
A tower extension, finished in 1994, brought the buidling from a six-storey structure to a 30-storey high-rise, complete with its own helipad.
“The Pen”, as she is fondly referred to around the world, offers the ultimate in luxury accommodations with the most spacious hotel rooms and suites in Hong Kong. Guests are truly rewarded when staying in any of the opulently decorated rooms or suites, which combine nostalgic charm with the most advanced technological innovations underlined, of course, by the world-famous Peninsula service.
The restaurants and bars at The Peninsula Hong Kong are among the most exclusive and most elegant in Hong Kong. Renowned as one of the best French restaurants in Asia, Gaddi’s is Hong Kong’s most elegant dining experience while Felix offers a sleek and stylish city rendezvous with stunning views across the harbor. Afternoon tea at The Peninsula’s Lobby is a Hong Kong institution, and Spring Moon is well-known for serving great authentic Cantonese food.
The Pen’s huge Roman-style swimming pool opens onto the hotel’s sun terrace, providing an incredible view of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island.
Its celebrated fleet of Rolls-Royce together with the helicopter shuttle service from the hotel’s rooftop helipad, offer hotel guests luxurious transportation to and from Hong Kong International Airport and around Hong Kong.
2008 sees the hotel celebrating her 80th anniversary, with a year of celebrations launched on 1st January. An exciting selection of new dining and accommodation packages are on offer, including the return of traditional afternoon tea dances on the first Sunday of each month from March to December.
Gaddi’s, Hong Kong’s foremost French restaurant will be celebrating its 55th anniversary this year too, so it’s a double celebration!
The Peninsula has been topping the international polls for decades and has been cited many times as the world’s best hotel by the world’s most discerning judges.
